Variety Performance was established in 2006 and was launched at The Denny Civic Theatre in Dumbarton in August of that year.

Our first show (25th August 2006) was hosted by established comedian and after dinner speaker Mr Bill Kelly on the year of his 70th Birthday. Other acts performing on the night were Des and Louise McFarlane as "Inseperable", Natalie James of Dutch pop sensation "Bad Candy" who has also had considerable chart success in the UK, radio roadshow performer Alana Wright, Singer/ Dancer Dominique, Strictly Dance Fever finalist Eddie Slattery, Sutherland School of Performance, Eddie McCarroll and comedy duo "Beauty and the Best" featuring Joannne McLaughlin and Jim Smart.

In August 2007 we brought an array of new acts and the show was hosted by up and coming comedian Scott McCaffary. Due to popularity, there were return appearances by Natalie James, Alana Wright, Des and Louise McFarlane and Jim Smart. We also showcased the outstanding talents of Greg Lloyd who rode a unicycle, juggled knives over reluctant audience members and treated us to some swing numbers. Rock Allstars provided some glitz and glamour with their cheerleading skills, and the amazing Charlie McFarlane gave his a superb rendition of Lil Chris! We also debuted the Lomond Park Hotel karaoke talent show winner, but this will not be part of the new show format.

Due to other commitments, previous organisers Jim Smart, Louise McFarlane and Natalie James did not bring Variety Performance to Dumbarton in 2008, however 2009 will debut a very polished and professional show featuring only established performers, ensuring a very high standard of show!

Variety Performance is moving into its 4th year in 2009 and has been taken over by the UK's top Entertainments company "BEST ACTS". They have made some major changes to the show's format in order to enhance your enjoyment of this popular annual event. This year's show will be our biggest and best yet and will be followed by an extensive Scottish tour. All of the performers will be professional acts and we are currently in negotiations to secure a personailty host! There will be NO repeat performers in the 2009 show with EVERY act being new to Variety Performance. We will also introduce an Illusionist and comedienne adding more variety to the show.

Finally, as you may have noticed, we have a new logo to reflect the quality and standard of the new "Best Acts Variety Performance".
